Analysis of the causes of screw movement

The ball screw is not installed correctly, the lubrication state of the feed drive is poor, the material quality problem, the screw support bearing gland is not pressed well, the ball screw is damaged, the screw support bearing may be broken, the load is too large, and the axial preload is too small, which makes the transmission gap of the feed drive chain too large, resulting in the axial runout of the screw drive, and the movement problem will occur. Let's take a look at the specific reasons for the screw movement.

First of all, the movement of the screw means that in the screw drive system, when the load is greater than the accuracy level, the screw will lose its normal motion accuracy, and will swing back and forth or even fail to transmit normally. As a result, it will produce loud noises and vibrations, which seriously affect the working efficiency and stability of the machine.

Secondly, the causes of the screw movement problem mainly include the following aspects:
1. Improper installation
The screw needs to be installed in a horizontal and balanced state. If this is not paid attention to during installation, it may cause the screw to be unbalanced or tilted, resulting in the movement of the screw.

2. Poor lubrication
The screw drive needs to be lubricated with grease or oil. If the selected grease is not suitable or the lubrication is not in place, the screw will wear and get stuck, resulting in the problem of movement.

3. Material quality problem
If the material quality of parts such as the screw and nut is not up to standard, problems such as thread wear and poor contact will occur, causing the screw to move.

4. Excessive load
If the load on the screw exceeds its limit, it will cause poor contact or wear between the screw and the nut, resulting in the appearance of movement.

When the screw moves, we need to check whether the back cap of the support bearing is locked, whether the support bearing has been worn and failed, and whether the bearing gasket is suitable. If there is no problem with the bearing, just re-match the gasket. If the bearing is damaged, it is necessary to replace the bearing, re-match the preload gasket, and then tighten the back cap.
