Introduction
SBR Linear Guide Rail is a round-shaft fully-supported linear motion system in which a hardened steel shaft is press-fitted into an aluminum alloy base, with every millimeter of the shaft seated against the base along its full length. This fully-supported structure is the defining advantage of the SBR design: regardless of stroke length, the shaft cannot sag under its own weight or under working load, which keeps slider travel straight and positioning repeatable.
The shaft is machined from 45# high-carbon steel or bearing steel, induction-hardened to HRC 58–62, and finished with a chrome anti-rust layer. Diameter tolerance is held to g6 grade. When paired with the matching SBR series slider (e.g. SBR20 rail → SBR20UU slider), precision ball bearings inside the slider roll directly on the hardened shaft surface, giving low starting torque and smooth, quiet motion throughout the full travel range.
Compared with profile rail guides (HG/EG series), the SBR series offers simpler installation, better tolerance to mounting surface irregularities, and a lower per-meter cost - which is why it remains the preferred rail type for DIY CNC builds, woodworking gantries, and mid-range automation frames worldwide.

Key Features & Technical Advantages
| Feature | Description & Advantage |
|---|---|
| Fully Supported Anti-Deflection Structure | The hardened shaft is tightly combined with the aluminum alloy base, with the entire rail supported along its full length. Over long strokes (e.g., above 1000 mm), this structure effectively prevents bending deformation of the shaft due to its own weight or load, ensuring smooth slider movement. |
| High-Precision Linear Motion | The shaft is made of 45# high-carbon steel or bearing steel, induction-hardened to a surface hardness of HRC 58–62, and coated with a rust-resistant chrome layer. Shaft diameter tolerance is strictly controlled to g6 grade, ensuring shaft straightness and dimensional accuracy. |
| Low Friction, Low Noise | When paired with SBR series sliders (SBR12UU–SBR30UU), precision ball bearings inside the slider roll along the hardened shaft, resulting in low friction resistance and extremely low starting torque. Operation is smooth and quiet, without the "stick-slip" phenomenon common in sliding guides. |
| Simple Installation Design | The rail base comes with pre-drilled standard mounting holes (spacing varies by specification), requiring no additional drilling. The slider and rail are matched at the factory and can be assembled directly. An adjustment screw on the side of the slider allows fit tightness to be adjusted based on actual load requirements. |
| Flexible Customization | Supports custom lengths from 100 mm to 4000 mm, cut to order. Common specifications (SBR20 and SBR25) are stocked as standard for short lead times. |
| Excellent Cost-Effectiveness | The SBR series features a simple structure and mature production processes. Compared to profile rail guides (such as the HG series), it offers lower unit cost, making it a practical choice for cost-sensitive projects without sacrificing motion quality. |
| Mature Supply Chain & Interchangeability | The SBR series follows market-standard dimensions. Rails and sliders within the same series are interchangeable across suppliers, simplifying spare parts procurement and long-term maintenance. |
| Corrosion Resistance Options | Standard configuration uses a chrome-plated hardened shaft with an aluminum alloy base. Stainless steel shaft options are available for humid or chemically corrosive environments. |
| Dust Protection Options | Compatible with dust-proof seals or dust covers to prevent foreign matter - including dust, wood chips, and metal particles - from entering the slider bearing interior. Suitable for woodworking machines, 3D printers, and other dusty environments. |

How to Select the Right Model

The right SBR size comes down to load, stroke length, and environment.
SBR12 / SBR16 - light-duty: small 3D printers, desktop CNC frames, compact plotters.
SBR20 / SBR25 - mid-range: laser engravers, standard CNC routers, single-axis automation. SBR20 is the most common specification in this series and carries the widest slider and accessory availability.
SBR25 / SBR30 - heavy duty: woodworking gantries, industrial automation frames, high-load multi-axis systems. For strokes above 1500 mm, add center support blocks to maintain shaft straightness under load.
For humid, coolant-exposed, or dusty environments, specify the stainless steel shaft and dust seal kit - available across all sizes.
